[1] What is MyKad PKI?

Is Malaysian Identity Card which also contains multiple applications for your convenience, the latest of which is Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). As it is PKI-ready, your MyKad is capable to store your digital certificate, which can be used to digitally sign and encrypt internet transactions

[2] How to determine that my MyKad is 64K Chip?

To determine the MyKad is 64K by the 64K Chip logo at the back of the MyKad

[3] I think MyKad is not functioning (faulty) and it has been installed with the certificate

  • Report to the nearest Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN) or Government Service Centre (GSC).
  • Then submit a copy of the report to any of iVEST authorised counter to revoke the digital certificate.

[4] How to download MyKad Online Certificate?

There are 2 options:

  • You can download the certificate yourself following the steps given in the iVEST™ 4MyKad Online Kit
  • You can physically present at any of the authorised outlet and have them download it for you (refer Registration FAQ)

Do it yourself

  • Ensure your iVEST Client and iVEST Reader has been installed properly, and settings are in placed
  • Insert your MyKad into the card reader.
  • Go to https://www.ivest.com.my and click iVEST 4MyKad Customer Service Registration link
  • The Internet Certificate Purchase appears
  • Read the disclaimer and c lick Accept
  • The Internet Certificate Purchase will appear with your name, NRIC number and date of birth information extracted from your MyKad
  • Complete the form and c lick Submit Registration
  • The Payment Details Form will appear.
  • Key in Voucher serial number (on top of voucher's slip) , Voucher key number (20 digits) and Mother's maiden name . Click Submit

Warning!

Read the instructions on your screen with particular attention to the process status on the task bar at the bottom left side. Do not retry to download unless advised otherwise by the technical support personnel.

  • Enter your preferred PIN between 6 to 8 alphanumeric characters for your MyKad digital certificate. Click OK
  • Upon completion, iVEST Gate will launch automatically at the bottom right hand of your system tray.
  • View your certificate to ensure that the certificate exist in your MyKad. (Right-click iVEST Gate > Click View Certificate )

[5] ERROR/SYSTEM: Unable to download MyKad Online Certificate. No error message prompted

CAUSE: Some of the settings is not set properly

SOLUTION: Ensure to follow the important check list before proceed to certificate download

Troubleshooting Tips

System Requirement:

  • iVEST™ Client 3.0
  • iVEST Reader
  • Internet Explorer 6.0

Check list:
Please ensure the following each time before login to MyCRS, the MyKad Online Certificate download page

  • iVEST™ Client 3.0 and iVEST reader is installed properly and in working order.
  • Disable the iProxy setting at the Internet Explorer proxy server setting.
    • LAN connection: Tools > Internet Options > Connections tab > LAN Settings button > Un-tick Use a proxy server… checkbox.
    • Dial-up connection: Tools > Internet Options > Connections tab > Highlight the Dial-up service and click Settings… button > Un-tick Use a proxy server… checkbox.
  • Ensure the Internet Explorer has been installed with Microsoft Virtual Machine. How to check: launch Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Look for Microsoft VM . If Microsoft VM is not listed, please install. You may find the installer inside the iVEST™ Client Installation CD
  • Check for Java Plug-in: click Window Start > Settings > Control Panel > look for Java Plug-in icon. If you have Java Plug-in icon, please apply these settings. Skip this step if you do not have Java Plug-in
    • This step is based on Java Platform Standard Edition 6 version 1.6.0:
        • Double-click Java Plug-in icon
        • Click Advanced tab
        • Under Default Java for browser , uncheck Microsoft Internet Explorer
        • Click Apply
        • Close Java Plug-in window
        • Re-launch Internet Explorer
    • Java (Sun) Plug-in is no longer listed in Advanced list. How to check: go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced
  • Exit iVEST™ Gate
  • Exit iProxy
  • Recommended not to activate other application that is not related to this process.
  • Settings are done. Kindly proceed with MyKad Online Certificate download

[6] ERROR/SYMPTOM : Install On Demand (Other),”To display this page correctly, you need to download and install the following components: Java virtual machine”

CAUSE: Your PC does not have Microsoft Virtual Machine which is required to download MyKad Online certificate

SOLUTION: Click Cancel on the message and install Microsoft Virtual Machine provided in the Installation CD

[7] ERROR/SYMPTOM: ” The voucher number is invalid. Please key in a valid voucher number”

CAUSE1: You have wrongly key-in the Digital Certificate Voucher during the certificate download process

SOLUTION1: Ensure to key-in the Digital Certificate Voucher correctly

CAUSE2: You have entered the Digital Certificate Voucher that has been used.

SOLUTION2: Please use another voucher

[8] ERROR/SYMPTOM: ” java.lang.NUL pointer exception. (L)java.lan.stackTrace element”

Refer solution in question no 7

[9] ERROR/SYMPTOM: ” Email is not a valid format”

CAUSE: You have wrongly key-in the email address
SOLUTION: Please key-in the email address correctly

[10] ERROR/SYMPTOM: Email is mandatory

CAUSE: You did not key-in the email address
SOLUTION: Please key-in the email address field. It is a mandatory field.

[11] ERROR/SYMPTOM: PIN must be 6 to 8 characters

CAUSE: You have key-in PIN less then 6 characters
SOLUTION: Please key-in the PIN between 6 to 8 alphanumeric characters.

[12] ERROR/SYMPTOM: Certificate requested more than 3 times. Please contact support for new attempts

CAUSE: Downloading of the certificate was failed after 3 consecutive trailed. Your MyKad has been blocked by CA from another trial of certificate download

SOLUTION: Please email the details of the MyKad holder (Full name and IC) to support@ivest.com.my in order to allow the user to download again. Wait until you get a reply from iVEST Support before your next try.

[13] MyKad PKI PIN

Referring to the PIN given after successfully download certificate into MyKad

[14] MyKad PKI PIN Blocked

Present at any of the Authorised Agent with the MyKad PKI PIN blocked to unblock/reset

[15] MyKad PKI Application Blocked

MyKad PKI will be blocked if more than 3 tries consecutively to download the certificate and failed. If MyKad PKI blocked, agent has to advice customer to go to JPN to unblock the MyKad PKI blocked. At the moment, only JPN PJ branch is able to do MyKad PKI unblocking. The MyKad will not be able to download the certificate until the MyKad PKI has been unblocked.

[16] Purchase error

CAUSE: You may have accidentally removed the MyKad from the reader during certificate download
SOLUTION: Please re-try and ensure everything is in placed

[17] Reporting a problem regarding iVEST 4MyKad to support@ivest.com.my

When reporting a pro blem, ensure to include the following details:

  • Your full name and IC no
  • System/Project? (eg: eTanah)
  • Operating System (eg: Win98, WinME, Win2000, WinXP) used? Any Service pack installed?
  • iVEST ™ Client version installed?
  • Reader model & reader serial number?
  • Browser type and version? (eg: Internet Explorer v6.0, Netscape v7.2, etc)
  • Detail description of the problem
  • Screens captured of the error messages
